BASSANO PARENT COUNCIL MINUTES DECEMBER 7, 2009 Present: Daryl Sametz, Loralee Bell, Sandra Mitchell, Sharon Helmle and Sherry Steinbach Call to Order: Sandra called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m. Consideration of Agenda: The agenda was accepted as presented. Adoption of Minutes: Sherry read the minutes of the October 5, 2009 meeting. Sharon Helmle moved that the minutes be adopted as read. Loralee seconded. Carried. Old Business: Lunch Cards - Nothing in place yet. Raylene mentioned that Brooks has lunch cards. She will send an old one with Brett to see how they handle it. Maybe a punch card would work with the child’s name on it, and maybe a $25 or $50 card would work. Reports: Friends – Nothing to report Grasslands – Lee Pickett was not available S.R.C. – Not available F.C.S.S. – Not available Principal’s Report – See Attached Jacey Solway will be carrying the Olympic Torch in January, and maybe we can get a bus load of people and go out and watch her. Strategic Plan – Daryl brought the poster that Grasslands had made with the “Action Plan for 2009-2014”. It has the Mission, Values, our Challenges and out Key areas of action. This is in-line with Alberta Education. Gym – New Screen is now in place and will be used at the Christmas Concert. A reminder to parents not to pick up kids in the bus loop after school! Daryl will be juggling the grade 8 and 9 classes around to make 1 grade 8 class and 2 grade 9 classes to let the grade 9’s get ready for Achievement Exams. The Math system will change next school year. Grade 10 Math will be a Common 10 Math, similar to Science 10. They will be taking out Pure Math 10 and Applied Math 10. School Ski Trip – January 28, 2010 (Thursday) and there will not be school on the 29th. Correspondence: Nothing New Business: Some concerns from parents that they were not aware of the Christmas Shoe Boxes this year. It was not well advertised and will try to fix that next year.
