Mr. Bramfield: Senior Math

      Welcome Back :-)

Hello parents and students! I hope you and your family had a relaxing summer holiday. If your son/daughter will be studying mathematics at the Sr. High level, then you are at the right place. This semester will be the start of the new Sr. High mathematics curriculum for Grade 10 students. Semester 1 will offer Mathematics 10C (the "C" stands for "common"). This course will replace Mathematics 10Pure and Mathematics 10Applied. Trade School Mathematics, Mathematics 10-3, will be offered in Semester 2. Math 14 is no longer available. However, Math 24 will be offered this semester in periods 3 and 4. As well, students will still have the opportunity to take Math 24 through distance ed all year. Please watch this website for additional information regarding Mathematics 10C and Mathematics 10-3.

      Tips For Success

Here are a few tips as to how you can help your child succeed in the mathematics classroom and beyond:

        • Prioritize homework: Encourage your child to complete their homework in a timely manner.
        • Set up a study schedule: Routine aids memory retention and understanding.
        • Reflect on study habits: If your child’s marks are not satisfactory, then maybe that’s a clue that something is not working.
        • Get help when necessary: Encourage your child to seek help from their teacher, a peer or a tutor.
